NOW what?
Quick update to everyone. Easier to share as a blog.
My left arm went numb and limp, on Thursday AM 8/8. I went to Bryn Mawr Hospital. It was a TIA. I ended up staying two nights.
Possibly triggered by the Babesiosis ( that I just got over a week before) which causes the body to nosedive platelets and flood white blood cells and all kinds of other reactions to try to combat the invasion . It was for this reason that my doctor suspected leukemia before my clever brother-in-law doctor suggested a tick borne problem treated with courses of various antibiotics. which is exactly what we did. and caused a big turn for the better very quickly.
But the root cause probably developed over time. It was a 2/3 blocked carotid artery. I had a longish carotid stent placed this morning at 8:00 a.m. (Fri 8/9).
Thank you for everyone for caring and praying. it's one of those things that you feel grateful that got caught (or) God caught because it would have turned into a major problem.
The people at the hospital here are great. Top notch vascular surgery unit at Bryn Mawr, impressive. They say that kicking my two pack a day habit would help. Kidding, not much post op concerns, back to life. All tuned up.
I did come home today, sat 8/10. I had a commercial grade nap, since they woke me up literally on the hour for the last two nights. Good to be home and on the mend.
I also got a "hospital-stay Teddy Bear", a family tradition: If you stay onernight in the hospital you get a gift store Teddy. Linda had dozens, I haven't stayed in a hospital since birth. Just one Teddy in my collection would be plenty, thanks.
It's fun hearing from everyone but let's think of a better excuse to catch up next time.
Love
Steve.
